In early 2001, Yakiv Rogalin took a Port Authority bus from Mt. Lebanon daily to study charity management at the University of Pittsburgh. Now, the 59-year-old Ukrainian doctor takes a shabby bus twice a week, passing through six checkpoints in eastern Ukraine, to get papers permitting the transport of milk and medication across the front lines of the conflict between government troops and Russian-backed rebels.
