Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has no doubt that Ukraine will regain control of the Donetsk airport currently held by the militants of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic and restore its infrastructures, the presidential press service said.

“I am positive that we will free the airport because this is our
land. And we will restore this airport. We will cover pieces of
reinforcing bars and concrete with glass and write “Hail the Cyborgs!”
to commemorate your feat which will be remembered by generations of
Ukrainians for centuries and help raise next generations of Ukraine’s
defenders,” Poroshenko said on May 11 during the premiere of the Airport
documentary.

He also spoke to soldiers who fought for the Donetsk airport.

“What you did, your feat revived the combative spirit of the
Ukrainian army. The enemy would have spread all over Ukraine if not for
you and people like you, brave warriors defending our country,”
Poroshenko said.

He thanked servicemen and volunteers, soldiers and generals, “who built the Ukrainian army within a very short period of time.”
