Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko and U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland have discussed the possibility of increasing the U.S. financial aid to Ukraine.

“The parties discussed topical issues of Ukrainian-American relations, particularly future bilateral contacts, possibility of increasing financial aid to Ukraine from the United States and the events of the next session of the UN General Assembly in New York in late September,” the Ukrainian president’s press service reported.

Poroshenko and Nuland noted the need to further coordinate efforts aimed at ensuring the international support for Ukraine amid Russian aggression.

Nuland stressed that the U.S. supports Ukraine’s consistent efforts in the establishment of sustainable ceasefire in Donbas.

The U.S. assistant secretary of state also noted important and decisive steps of Ukraine towards decentralization. She emphasized the full conformity of the constitutional amendments with the Minsk agreements.
