The Ukrainian leadership believes the issues of certain areas in Donbas can be resolved only politically, but the state has enough strength and resources to defend the country, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said.
Speaking at a conference with security officials in Kyiv on Nov. 14, Poroshenko emphasized that Ukraine has always favored a peaceful settlement of the situation in Donbas and has been applying as much effort as it can to prevent further escalation.
“We see the settlement of the issue of certain districts in the Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts exclusively in a political and peaceful way, but we have strength and resources to defend our state today. The gunpowder must be kept dry,” the presidential press service reported Poroshenko as saying.
