Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that Ukraine is preparing for the possible pessimistic scenario of the development of the situation in eastern Ukraine.
“Being the supporter of the peace plan, Ukraine will monitor the clear observation of the Minsk agreements with all responsibility. However, this does not mean that Ukraine will not be ready to decisive actions if the pessimistic scenario is seen,” he said, opening a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council in Kyiv on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
The president said that he gave the correspondent order to the General Staff chief and the defense minister.
“Today several new units have been formed, which will allow now covering the possible attack on Mariupol, Berdiansk, Kharkiv and northward of Luhansk towards Dnipropetrovsk region,” he said.
Poroshenko added that the fortifications in the eastern part of the country are being built under the plan. Armed Forces receive the required military hardware and armament.
