You're reading: Putin and Hollande did not discuss Mistral issue in Minsk

MOSCOW – At their meeting in the Belarusian capital Minsk on Thursday, the leaders of Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine did not discuss problems surrounding the delivery of the Mistral-class helicopter carriers built in France to Russia, the Kommersant newspaper said on Friday, citing the Russian president's press secretary Dmitry Peskov.

Rosoboronexport and the French company DCNS signed a contract for the construction of two helicopter carriers in June 2011. The price of the deal was estimated at 1.2 billion euro.

France was expected to provide the first helicopter carrier, the Vladivostok, to Russia back on Nov. 14. However, it has not been provided to Russia yet and it is not clear when it will happen.

French President Francois Hollande said he has made a decision to suspend the provision of the Vladivostok to Russia due to the situation in Ukraine. Russia, for its part, said it expects to receive either the ships or its money back.
