Deputy Ukrainian Defense Minister Petro Mekhed during his meeting with UN Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights, Ivan Simonovic, shared with him how Russia violated a principle of non-use of force and broke provisions of the Russia-Ukraine Agreement on Status and Conditions of Staying of the Black Sea Fleet in Ukraine.
Simonovic arrived to view personally the situation in Ukraine and represent the draft report of United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights through November 2014.
Mekhed remarked that Russia policy in relation to Ukraine destroys bilateral international legal basis and threatens the system of international humanitarian law.
“Russian Federation fails to accomplish provisions of the Memorandum on Security Assurances,” he said.
Mekhed said how Ukraine highly praises assistance and support of the international community for peacemaking and stop of bloodshed in the eastern Ukraine.
“I would like to thank Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon for his personal clear position on Donbas conflict resolution and illegitimacy of so called elections in DNR and LNR held on Nov. 3, 2014 and their harm to accomplishment of the Minsk arrangements,” he said.
