Moscow - Two groups of trucks of the Russian Emergency Situations' Ministry with relief aid for Donbas have crossed the border and are heading for Donetsk and Luhansk, deputy chief of the Russian National Crisis Management Center Oleg Voronov has announced.

“The customs clearance of the cargos has been completed at two checkpoints – Matveyev Kurgan and Donetsk. The two convoys crossed the border, one of them is heading for Luhansk and the other for Donetsk,” he said.

An Interfax correspondent reports that all white trucks with signs “Humanitarian aid from the Russian Federation” have gone through customs and border checks that involved representatives of the Ukrainian customs and border services.

Voronov added that over 900 tonnes of cargo will be delivered by over 170 vehicles to Luhansk and the same amount to Donetsk. The aid will be distributed among schools, day-care centers and hospitals. The cargos include food, medicines and construction materials.

This is the 14th convoy of the Emergency Situations’ Ministry for Donbas. Since last August over 18,000 tonnes of humanitarian cargos have been delivered to Donetsk and Luhansk.
