SMOLENSK - A transit consignment of more than 58 tonnes of apples has been stopped at the Krasnaya Gorka customs declaration checkpoint in Russia's Smolensk region, the federal phytosanitary and veterinary oversight service Rosselkhoznadzor's department of the Bryansk and Smolensk regions, said in a press release on Feb. 9.
The apples arrived from Poland with Belarusian re-export phytosanitary certificates and were intended to be transported to Kazakhstan, the press release says.
Rosselkhoznadzor banned the transit of products from Belarus to Kazakhstan without a check by Russian officials from Nov. 24 2014, but attempts continue to violate this ban, the press service said.
