Geneva - Russia's next humanitarian aid convoy for the south-east of Ukraine will be formed within the next ten days, Russian Emergency Situations Minister Vladimir Puchkov has said.
“We have already started to form the next, 15th, humanitarian convoy. Tentative requests have already been received. As before, we will send food supplies and medicine. In addition to that, we will deliver equipment for the power- and water supply sectors, as well as all necessary construction materials,” he told a press briefing in Geneva on Feb. 17.
“The next convoy will be formed within the next ten days. We continue to strictly abide by all requirements of international humanitarian activity documents and cooperate with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), representatives of the Kyiv authorities, the OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe) and public organizations that specialize in maintaining the safety of social life and providing humanitarian aid to people,” Puchkov said.
During his visit to Geneva on Feb. 16, Puchkov held talks with senior officials of a number of international organizations, including the ICRC and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. The minister said at these meetings that Russia had delivered more than 20,000 tonnes of humanitarian supplies to Ukraine’s south-eastern regions since August 2014.
