BASEL - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is holding talks with Italy's new Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni.
The meeting is taking place on the sidelines of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Ministerial Council.
At the start of the meeting the Italian minister told Lavrov: “I was told that you are a great minister of foreign ministers. I hope we’ll work together well.”
He expressed hope that the Russian-Italian relations will be good, despite “the current difficulties.”
“No one promised it would be easy,” Lavrov said.
The two foreign-policy chiefs are expected to discuss the Russian-Italian relations and the situation in Ukraine.
