Moscow - The Russian Federal Migration Service (FMS) is not commenting on whether Yanukovych has applied for asylum or citizenship in Russia.

“As to the lists, let’s turn to the 152nd federal law concerning personal data, which decrees that the provision of any data on any status of any person is governed by this law and we have no right to discuss it without consent for the provision of this information,” Valentina Kazakova, the head of the FMS department regarding citizenship issues, told reporters on Monday, responding to a question about Yanukovych.

Kazakova said some 150,000 people applied for Russian citizenship in 2014. “Of these people, some 70,000 are Ukrainian citizens,” she said.
