Moscow -- The Russian stock market opened the week with a 0.4%-2.6% drop for the MICEX and RTS stock indexes as oil prices continued to fall and the ruble exchange rate declined on Monday morning.
The MICEX stock index fell 0.4% to 1391.67 after the first minute of trading and the RTS was down 2.6% at 770. The majority of ruble-denominated blue chips on the Moscow Exchange fell within 3.3%.
Prices were down for VTB (-0.9%), Gazprom (-0.5%), Gazprom Neft (-2.6%), Lukoil (-0.2%), MTS (-0.03%), Novatek (-0.7%), Polyus Gold (-0.3%), Rosneft (-1.6%), Rostelecom (-0,4%), Sberbank (-2.2%), Tatneft (-0.5%), Federal Grid Co (-3.3.%).
Prices grew for Norilsk Nickel (+0.6%), Transneft (+1.2%), Severstal (+0,4%), and Surgutneftegaz (+0,1%).
