Moscow - The next meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine could be held on December 12 instead of 11, said Leonid Slutsky, the chairman of the State Duma Committee for CIS Affairs.
“In the event of the parties confirming their attendance, the meeting will most likely be held not on December 11 but (December) 12,” Slutsky told reporters on Dec. 9.
He was thus clarifying a possible date for the Contact Group’s next meeting.
Representatives from the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), too, named December 12 as a possible date for talks in Minsk, the committee head recalled.
These talks must be held with participation of Russian Ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov, Ukraine’s ex-president Leonid Kuchma, DPR and LPR representatives and the OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) special envoy Heidi Tagliavini, Slutsky said.
“One should hope that Minsk 2 will definitely be held as this format has proved effective and the main thing now is to secure a ceasefire,” Slutsky said.
