Representatives of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic demand that two members of the Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) of the OSCE leave the place of the monitoring in the territory that they control, Deputy Chief Monitor Alexander Hug said.

A prohibition to conduct the monitoring took place this week at a higher level of the Luhansk People’s Republic: they demand withdrawal of two our monitors from the areas where they conduct their observations, Hug told a briefing conference in Kyiv on Nov. 19.

SMM monitors are accommodated there for operational reasons and such a decision is made by SMM OSCE, not someone else, let alone the so-called Luhansk People’s Republic, Hug said.

However, he underscored that the monitors were to continue doing their work, wherever they are.

Hug also revealed that 634 people are working at the SMM OSCE in Ukraine this week, with collaboration of 78 workers of international organizations and 281 on the part of Ukraine.
