London - UK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond has said he is concerned over the reports of Russian military column entered east of Ukraine and instability caused by Russian-backed separatists in the east.
“I am concerned by the latest reports of heavy weapons entering Ukraine from Russia,” the UK secretary said after yesterday telephone conversation with Ukrainian colleague Pavlo Klimkin on Nov. 11.
He restated the UK’s support for Ukrainian government and people and for a diplomatic solution to the Ukraine crisis.
Hammond urged Russia “to comply with its commitments under the Minsk Agreement and withdraw all Russian troops and equipment from Ukrainian territory and end its military support for the separatists.”
“I urge President Putin Russia must respect Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. If it does not, it should understand that there will be further consequences for its relationship with the international community,” he stressed.
On Wednesday morning, Nov. 12 NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe Gen. Philip Breedlove said that Russian military convoys have entered eastern Ukraine.
