The 26th humanitarian convoy from Russia arrived in eastern Ukraine on May 14 in violation of legislative norms, the State Border Service has reported.

“This morning Russia performed unilateral clearing of the 26th so-called humanitarian convoy,” State Border Service representative Oleh Slobodian said at a press briefing in Kyiv on May 14.

“As [the border] was crossed with flagrant violations of international and domestic legislative norms, control exercised by the Ukrainian interdepartmental group was limited to general observation, without the performance of controlling functions,” Slobodian said.

In his words, some of the cargo carried by the trucks was not humanitarian. For instance, certain vehicles were carrying car parts and tires.

The border guards said the interdepartmental group did not find armaments or ammunition on the trucks.
