Donetsk - The UN is going to increase the amount of aid for Donetsk region, Neal Walker, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Ukraine has said.
During the meeting with Head of Donetsk Regional State Administration Oleksandr Kikhtenko, Walker assured him residents of the region could count on the UN support, the press service of Donetsk Regional State Administration reported on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
We will increase the amount of aid, Walker noted and added that it required some time.
The UN representatives also said that they were ready to begin the realization of the third stage of the Community Based Approach to Local Development Project, according to which co-funding of Donetsk region for three years would amount to $350,000.
“The assistance of international organizations is very important for us. Especially, rural territories need this kind of assistance today. Thus, it is on the territories of villages and towns, where we will fully support the implementation of this project,” the regional state administration’s press service quoted Kikhtenko.
Donetsk Regional State Administration also said that an office of UNDP would be opened in Kramatorsk shortly. “It will allow a more immediate response to the needs of the region,” reads the statement.
