Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Kislitsa jointly with Rose Gottemoeller, the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security, and Geoffrey R. Pyatt, the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, visited the Hoptivka checkpoint on the border with Russia on Saturday, Dec. 6.
The press service of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine reported that diplomats accompanied by Viktor Nazarenko, the head of the State Border Service of Ukraine, monitored the operation of the checkpoint and inspected the Yantar radiation monitoring system and other equipment received by the State Border Service of Ukraine using international technical aid from the United States.
The aid provided by the United States under the Second Defense Line project aims at strengthening of the Ukrainian state border, in particular, in fighting nuclear smuggling.
