The newly appointed Ukrainian Ambassador to the U.S. Valeriy Chaly plans to tackle the issues of weapons supplies to Ukraine and investment as ambassador.

“We have very powerful support of the Congress. There are dynamics. When they say that this concerns weapons, I do not agree. There is the task, but we also have the economy. We should speak about investment, the country’s potential, and there are people who believe us, and who are ready to invest in Ukraine in the present conditions,” he said on Channel Five TV on July 10.

He said that the key issue in relations between Ukraine and the United States is trust.

“There is trust we’ve built now. We’re open, we’re responsible partners; the key task is to maintain this trust,” he said.

He said that he plans to go to the United States in the near future.

“There are certain procedures, but I think that they will be settled very quickly. I think that in a week I will go there and will fulfill the duties and tasks imposed on me by the president,” he said, adding that a rotation in the Ukrainian embassy to Washington D.C. is planned.
