WASHINGTON, July 20 (Reuters) - Queen Elizabeth has invited U.S. President Barack Obama for a state visit to Britain, a spokesman for Prime Minister David Cameron said on Tuesday.
Cameron passed on the request from the Queen during a meeting with Obama in the White House — his first trip to Washington as prime minister.
"Timings will be discussed with the palace," the spokesman said.
The U.S. leader and his wife Michelle met the Queen during a visit to Britain for the G20 summit of developed and developing economies in April 2009.
