Early parliamentary elections in Moldova may bring pro-Russian Our Party and Party of Socialists to power; together they may win over 50% of the vote, according to an Omnibus poll.
Some 56.5% of the respondents said ‘they were ready to vote’, and another 23% were ‘inclined to visit polling stations’.
Almost 30% of the respondents ‘have not decided whom to support’ in the hypothetical elections to be held next Sunday. A total of 19.8% are ‘ready to give their vote’ to Our Party, 13% to the Party of Socialists, 8% for the DA platform, and 6% for Maia Sandu’s Action and Solidarity Party that has yet to be registered. The runners-up are the European People’s Party (3.7%), the Party of Communists (3.2%), the Liberal Party (1.2%) and the Liberal Democratic Party (0.5%).
Amongst voters who have made up their mind, 32% would vote for Our Party, 21% for the Party of Socialists, 13.5% for the DA platform, 10% for the Action and Solidarity Party, 7% for the Democratic Party, and 6% for the Liberal Party.
Almost 33% of the respondents ‘see early elections as the only way to overcome the crisis in Moldova’. Some 18.6% ‘believe that early elections may give the chance to’, and almost 15% ‘support early elections but do not expect them to be very helpful’.
The poll of 1,491 respondents in twelve regions was conducted in the period from February 5 to 13. The margin of error was within 2.6%.
