WASHINGTON (AP) — The mother of an teenage girl who disappeared in Aruba in 2005 is launching a resource center named for her daughter to help families of missing persons.
Beth Holloway is scheduled to open the Natalee Holloway Resource Center on Tuesday at the National Museum of Crime & Punishment in Washington.
Holloway hopes the center will prevent more missing person cases, support families and reduce the challenges that she faced.
It comes soon after police in Peru say Dutchman Joran Van der Sloot confessed to killing a woman in his hotel room. He has long been a suspect in Holloway’s disappearance.
An official handling the announcement says Beth Holloway will not discuss the latest developments in Van der Sloot’s case.
