WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama says he wants Russia and the United States to work more closely to fight terrorism.
Obama told a Russian television station that no single country can stop terrorists who have attacked places throughout the world. He said he looks forward to "increasing cooperation between the United States and Russia" in stemming terrorism.
Obama said he called Russian President Dmitry Medvedev immediately after the deadly March 29 attacks on Moscow subway stations. He said he pledged that the U.S. will help "in any way that Moscow thought made sense in helping to find the perpetrators."
The interview was conducted Thursday at the White House. The transcript was released Saturday.
