Polish authorities say a victim's credit card apparently was stolen following the April plane crash in which the country's president was killed and used hours later to withdraw money.

Monika Lewandowska, a spokeswoman for Warsaw prosecutors, said the equivalent of $1,700 was withdrawn from the account of Andrzej Przewoznik from cash machines in Smolensk, the Russian city where the plane crashed April 10.

She says the first withdrawal was made about two hours after the crash. Others followed over the next three days.

Lewandowska says Russian authorities have been notified. Asked whether the card had been stolen or arrests made, Russian Interior Ministry spokesman said Monday: "We have denied this. Przewoznik oversaw wartime memorials in Poland.
