Ukraine is not to be blamed for Europe's gas supply problems, Polish President Lech Kaczynski has said.

“The issue with gas supplies to Poland is currently solved for us, and Poland has no intention of initiating any sort of legal procedures. I want to note that it’s not Ukraine’s fault that gas is not transported to Europe,” Kaczynski said on Wednesday at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko, which was aired on Ukrainian television.

According to Polish president, having talked to Yushchenko he made a conclusion that the current situation reminded him of case with BElarus, when it received cheap Russian gas, could not pay for it and got an offer of a credit from Russia. To pay back the credit, it gave its gas transport system to the Russian company, he said.
