Warsaw, January 15 (Interfax Central Europe) - The office of Polish President Lech Kaczynski is not confirming or denying the presence of Polish officials in the proposed Moscow gas summit, while such a summit for the time being remains "media speculation," a presidential spokesperson told Interfax Thursday.
“We have not received any information on the mater and it will be difficult to comment because all the information so far has been media speculation,” the spokesperson said. “I can’t confirm or deny it.”
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev Wednesday proposed to hold a Moscow summit of countries that import Russian gas.
Ukrainian and Polish presidents Viktor Yushchenko and Lech Kaczynski also proposed a summit of Russia, Ukraine and EU countries, but suggested the meeting place should be Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, which holds the EU’s rotating presidency.
Yuschenko, Kaczynski and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso Wednesday discussed the concept of such a summit to address the natural gas crisis.
