LONDON, June 7 (Reuters) - Heir to the British throne Prince Charles has been advised by his doctor to take three days off next week to nurse a persistent chest infection, a spokeswoman for the Royal Household said on Monday.
He has cancelled an appearance at Royal Ascot and the traditional Garter Service at Windsor Castle to convalesce from next Monday. He will return to his usual duties and diary of public engagements on Thursday.
"The Prince has been suffering from a persistent chest infection for over a month and doctors have advised him to find a number of consecutive days in which to have a complete rest," a spokeswoman for the palace said.
She said despite his ill-health Prince Charles, 61, had decided to honour a number of long-standing commitments this week, including taking part in the Queen Elizabeth’s Birthday Parade.
