BANGKOK, May 13 (Reuters) - A rogue soldier and de facto military chief of Thailand's red shirt protest movement was shot and wounded near Bangkok's business area on Thursday night, May 13, his close aide told Reuters.
Khattiya Sawasdipol, a suspended army specialist in charge of security at an encampment occupied by thousands of anti-government demonstrators, was admitted to an intensive care ward after being shot, said the aide, who picked up Khattiya’s cellphone.
Khattiya, better known as "Seh Daeng" (Commander Red) enjoys a cult following and has been dubbed a "terrorist" by Thailand’s government, which accuses him of involvement in dozens of grenade attacks that have injured more than 100 people.
