STOCKHOLM (AP) — Mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson has posted a net profit in the second quarter, continuing to see a boost from high-end devices such as smartphones.
Net profit for the second quarter came to €12 million ($15.5 million), compared with a previous loss of 213 million in the same three months a year ago.
Revenues for the LM Ericsson and Sony Corp. joint venture, edged up four percent to €1.76 billion from €1.68 billion in the second quarter last year
The group said Friday it shipped 11 million units in the quarter, up 5 percent from the first quarter, but a 20 percent drop from the same period last year because of a smaller production portfolio.
