Kyiv, January 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine and Poland have agreed to draw up a roadmap for bilateral cooperation in 2009-2010, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko and his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski said at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday.
“We have agreed to draft a roadmap for our relations in 2009-2010,” Ohryzko said.
He said that this cooperation plan would be very specific and pragmatic, and would result in clear and practical results in cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking of the outcome of his meeting with Sikorski, Ohryzko said that they had focused on many bilateral issues, including developments in the Russian-Ukrainian gas row.
“I again stress that Ukraine is ready to pump the contracted amount of gas to Europe,” he said, adding that Ukraine has been always ready to do this as soon as possible.
The ministers also spoke about Ukraine’s aspirations to join the European Union and NATO.
Sikorski said that Ukraine is a strategic partner for Poland and a key player in the Eastern Partnership initiative. He said that his country would continue assisting Ukraine in its plans to join the EU and the alliance and help it conduct reforms in various spheres.
“We are urging Ukraine to hold economic and military reforms strengthening Ukraine’s advancement in the EU,” Sikroski said.
While analyzing the Ukrainian-Russian gas dispute, he said that Poland is supporting a transparent solution to this question and is against any “blackmail and monopolism in this sector.”
“Poland supports the diversification of energy supplies,” Sikorski said.
