WASHINGTON, June 6 (Reuters) - U.S. Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen, in charge of the federal oil spill relief efforts in the Gulf, said on Sunday BP has made progress with its latest effort to fight the spill but more needs to be done.
"We’re making the right progress but I don’t think anyone should be pleased as long as there’s oil in the water," Allen said in a CNN interview. "I would say progress has been made but nobody should be pleased until a relief well is done."
After repeated failures, last week BP <BP.L> <BP.N> installed a containment dome over the spewing well that the company said is now capturing a large proportion of the oil.
