An ocean preserve in Hawaii and Sri Lanka's central highlands are the latest additions to UNESCO's World Heritage List.

The U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization cites Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument for its significance to native Hawaiian culture.

A statement Saturday says Sri Lanka’s biodiverse highlands, meanwhile, are home to "an extraordinary range of flora and fauna, including several endangered species."

It says the two new additions bring the number of World Heritage sites to 892.

UNESCO officials have been meeting since last Sunday in the Brazilian capital.
