The U.S. is determined to continue training Georgian military servicemen and assist the Georgian armed forces, U.S. Ambassador to Georgia John Bass said at the opening ceremony of a simulation training center for the Georgian Defense Ministry on Saturday.
The center’s construction has been financed by the U.S., and it has all the essential conditions for training Georgian servicemen at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels, the Georgian Defense Ministry told Interfax.
Foreign specialists have trained Georgian instructors to conduct exercises, it said.
These instructors will further train Georgian soldiers along with U.S. military experts from the CUBIC group. The first staff exercises at the training center will take place at the end of July.
The U.S. ambassador said the center’s opening is important for building the Georgian army. The U.S. will help Georgia determine threats and respond to them, he said.
Bass reaffirmed that the U.S. recognizes Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
