STOCKHOLM, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Per Westerberg was re-elected on Monday to continue as Sweden's Speaker of Parliament in the following four years,a parliament vote result showed.
Westerberg, a Swedish Moderate Party politician, won 194 votes against 153 votes for Social Democratic candidate Kent Harstedt, the result showed.
A candidate shall win at least 174 votes to become the parliament speaker.
Westerberg was born in Nykoping in 1951. He served as Sweden’s Parliament Speaker from 2006 to 2010 and as deputy Parliament Speaker between 2003 and 2006.
The Social Democrat Susanne Eberstein was elected first deputy Speaker of Parliament.
