The German doctor of jailed Ukrainian opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko, Lutz Harms, said the former prime minister has agreed to end her hunger strike.
Two weeks ago Tymoshenko stopped eating in protest against alleged fraud in parliamentary elections won by Ukraine’s ruling party. “From tomorrow (16 November), she will stop her hunger strike,” Interfax quoted Harms as saying. “She is very weak,” said Harms’ colleague Annette Reischauer.
Earlier on 15 November, Ukraine’s Deputy Health Minister Raisa Moiseyenko said Tymoshenko had agreed to end her hunger strike after meeting the German doctors. “It has been agreed that Yulia Volodymyrivna [Tymoshenko] will take food. Food has already been delivered to the ward,” she told reporters.
