The daughter of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, Yevhenia Tymoshenko, has called on German Chancellor Angela Merkel not to give up the fight for the release of the Ukrainian ex-premier.

“I think that Germany is the last chance for my mother,” Tymoshenko said in an interview with German publication Bild, according to the Batkivschyna Party’s Web site.

“I’m asking Chancellor Merkel not to give up. If my mother is not released in the near future, her life might be in danger.”

Yevhenia Tymoshenko also said that in recent weeks she hoped that a settlement of the situation with her mother was close, as Tymoshenko’s release and her treatment in Germany were one of the conditions the fulfillment of which was necessary for the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU.
