No visas or plane tickets are required to enter the United States of America this weekend – just wander down to Atmosfera mall on 103 Stolichnaya Shose and its #USAinUA Festival.
Celebrating every aspect of American culture from music to motorbikes, the two-day event recognizes the importance of the relationship between Ukraine and the U.S. with a series of educational and entertaining activities.
Classic American food like burgers, hot dogs and wings will all be on hand, along with sweeter treats like New York cheesecake and apple pie.
Visitors can see how they’d fare in an American high school by trying out for the cheerleading team or facing off in a hip-hop dance battle, or simply sit back and enjoy the performances.
Exhibitions of vintage cars, military vehicles and Harley Davidson motorbikes will keep petrol heads happy, with another exhibition showing off autographs collected from superstars like Muhammad Ali, Marilyn Monroe and Charlie Chaplin.
Aug. 16 marks the 38th anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death, and the festival will go all out to pay homage to the legendary King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Expect white jumpsuits, quiffs and rhinestones as far as the eye can see, as impersonators take to the stage to show off their very best Jailhouse Rock or Hound Dog. The audience will vote for their favorite, who will receive a special prize.
Music plays an important part in the festival, honoring genres including jazz, blues, rock ‘n’ roll, hip-hop and country. Live bands and dance clubs will encourage everyone to get involved, whether you’re singing along from the sidelines or practicing your Charleston.
Children can make the most of a special area set aside just for them, where they can meet superheroes, ride on the carousel and learn how to make Native American amulets. Within the gallery shopping center, a series of expert lectures has been organized covering fashion, politics, history, business and several other topics. You can take part in intensive discussions, or test your knowledge in a U.S. quiz.
#USAinUA festival is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Aug. 15-16 at Atmosphera mall on 103 Stolichnaya Shose. Entry for adults is set at Hr 50, with free entry for children under 12. Tickets will be sold on site.
