Ukraine’s Constitutional Court’s unappealable decision on Oct. 27 not only killed Ukraine’s anti-corruption infrastructure – it sent the country spiraling into legal chaos and strained Ukraine’s relations with the West. The country now faces a difficult dilemma to which there is no immediate solution: although the court most likely acted in violation of the Constitution, there is no legal way to dismiss it. But quick actions are nevertheless necessary: otherwise, the court will soon upend many other laws considered the epitome of Ukraine’s post-EuroMaidan reforms.
