After a resounding victory of 73 percent during presidential elections, Volodymyr Zelensky has scored another goal in Ukraine’s parliament. The parliamentary elections held on 21 July have given his party Servant of the People 254 seats out of the total 450. For the first time in the history of independent Ukraine, since the Communist Party lost its monopoly, a single party will have a majority in parliament, making it possible for Zelensky to push through any law he wants – an action requiring 226 votes. The only thing in the way of Zelensky’s power is the so-called constitutional majority – a minimum of 300 votes to change the Constitution.
