This April, Ukraine was devastated not only by coronavirus and war. Capital Kyiv for a few days became the most polluted city in the world after being hit by a dust storm coupled with smoke from forest blazes around Chornobyl, giving birth to apocalyptic pictures – and the realization that Mother Nature will not wait until Ukraine solves its other troubles. Besides the adverse impact of climate change, Ukraine will have to deal with the consequences of its most permeating environmental problem – intensive agriculture.
