The U.S. is committed to defending Taiwan, said President Joe Biden, a pledge that China’s official mouthpiece Global Times declared he won’t make good. A similar promise of “unwavering support” for Ukraine was similarly disregarded by Vladimir Putin who said, “we know how to protect our interests”.
