Popular Ukrainian TV channel launches positive project
about Ukrainians
1+1 TV channel will soon launch a social project called “Your Country.” The
initiative is aimed at collecting positive news stories to help Ukrainians take
pride in their countrymen. Everyone can send its story, video or photos to the
project team, [email protected]. One also plans to create a website devoted to the product.

Brides from Ukraine will meet in Ternopil
On April 20-21, Ternopil hosts the fourth West Ukrainian Wedding Festival.
The program includes a wedding exhibition “Holiday Of Dreams,” a seminar for photographers,
open contests on throwing wedding garters and removing them with teeth, among
other events.

Ukrainian becomes more active in building civil
society
Natalia Petrova, a lawyer and deputy head of the “Fair Justice” project
funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development, thinks Ukrainians are extremely
interested in establishing non-governmental institutions for promoting and
protecting their own interests. On the of the NGO representatives said that plans
are in the works for different forums, conferences and seminars where
participants will be able to learn about leadership in Ukraine, ways to grow
young leaders and joint responsibility of every Ukrainian for his country.

A teenager from Vinnytsia embroiders boxing glove in
Ukrainian style
Anatoliy Haistruk, a 16-year artist-from Vinnytsia, made a boxing glove decorated
with handmade embroidery featuring the oldest Ukrainian symbols — amulets such
as bezkonechnyk, symbolizing
harmony and movement, endless and eternal life; oak leaves and acorns, symbols
of man’s strength, longevity and procreation. The one-month project is
dedicated to victories of Ukrainian boxers at the Olympic Games 2012 held in
London. The glove was registered in the National Record Register of Ukraine in the
art nomination.

Ukraine joins world anti-violence dance
On Feb.14,
Ukraine participated in a global rally protesting violence against women. The
participants called on women to stop staying silent. According to the United
Nations, every third woman in the world suffers from physical or sexual
violence.
