Ophthalmology breakthrough made in Dnipropetrovsk

Doctors of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional ophthalmologic
hospital conducted the first intraocular surgery in Ukraine with no injections
by using a German modern femtosecond laser. The method provides high accuracy,
ensures safety, avoids trauma and reduces a patient’s recovery period.

The technique also allows operations to be conducted
on the cataract, glaucoma, myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and keratoplasty
with a 99 percent establishment level as well.

The Dnipropetrovsk Regional ophthalmologic hospital has
over three years been supplied with new, high-tech diagnostic equipment, in
particular, a computer visual field analyzer, an automatic sign projector, an oxygen
dehumidifier, an intensive care system for newborns, etc. The new equipment allows
faster diagnostic procedures and improves the quality of health services in the
region.
