Human rights defender and lawyer Emil Kurbedinov was detained early on December 6 in Russian-occupied Crimea in a move the links to his defense of one of the Ukrainian prisoners of war whom Russia seized in the Azov Sea on November 25. He was held throughout the day, however, released in the late evening after the ‘judge’ agreed to adjourn the hearing into the charges against him until Dec. 7 morning Kurbedinov is facing a period of administrative arrest on charges brought by the so-called ‘centre for countering extremism’.
