A court in the Kyiv oblast has sentenced Oleksandr Volkov to 9 years’ imprisonment over the abduction, savage torture, and effective killing of 50-year-old EuroMaidan activist Yury Verbitsky. It is unclear whether Volkov will appeal a sentence that could see him free in less than two years. However, the prosecutor has already announced that she will be challenging the verdict.
