Ukraine’s Prosecutor General is reported to have handed Timur Tumgoev over to Russia, despite a halt on extradition from the UN’s Human Rights Committee issued because of legitimate fears that the 31-year-old Ingush would be subjected to torture if returned against his will. There is as yet no official confirmation, leaving a flickering hope that Tumgoev is still on Ukrainian territory.

In their zeal to hand a Russian citizen over to a country holding at least 70 Ukrainian political prisoners, the Ukrainian authorities also lied in order to separate Tumgoev from his lawyer.
