John McCain (Republican-Arizona) in the U.S. Senate on March 16, calling for Russia to free imprisoned Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko or face additional sanctions. McCain also reiterated his support for the U.S. supplying Ukraine with defensive weapons to defend itself against Russia's two-year war. He called U.S. President Barack Obama's refusal to provide Ukraine with weapons a "one of the more shameful chapters in U.S. history."
