(Peter Campbell-Kelly plays Biber’s Mystery Sonata No. 16 ‘Passacaglia’)

From the Chief Editor, Bohdan Nahaylo:

Kyiv Post rarely publishes poems and other literary works or musical pieces. But, as I’ve written before, in these difficult times when Russia is waging its barbaric war on Ukraine we welcome all expressions of solidarity.

One of the latest is from a well-known British classical musician and poet, Peter Campbell-Kelly.  He writes to Kyiv Post:

Warmest greetings from a bright, cold afternoon here in Worcestershire UK, as I sit witnessing the tragic scenes on TV of the war continuing in your beautiful country, Ukraine…🇺🇦

I have recorded a short film on my violin, which I would like to offer to you as a musical prayer for the well-being and strength of you all, fighting and protecting your dear people as heroes in this war.

I also wrote a little poem to go with the prayer.

The Curlew, I think, has a beautiful song of great hope

Peter ends his message with these words:

We in the UK are with you and admire you so much….we send all our love, hope and kindest wishes.

Слава Україні 🇺🇦!!

Thank you, Peter, and to all who support Ukraine.
