The dispute over the Dec. 29 prisoner swap between Russia and Ukraine continues into 2020. Five ex-officers of the notorious Berkut law enforcement unit were released on Russia’s demand at the December swap. Two of the five, all accused of taking part in the EuroMaidan massacre, subsequently returned to Kyiv, “to reach the truth” in the Maidan cases. Their statements matched precisely the messages of Russian propaganda aimed to prove that the EuroMaidan Revolution was a coup d’état.
